The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and Great Britain. War was declared on June 18, 1812 and officially ended when the Treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814. Even thought the war ended officially the final major battle of the war took place at the Battle of New Orleans on January 8, 1815 when Andrew Jackson decisively defeated the British. The last battle of the War of 1812 was a naval action took place on 30 June 1815 between american sloop of war USS Peacock and the British East India Company cruiser Nautilus,in the Sunda Strait off Java, over six months after the Treaty of Ghent was signed.
